William Newton, M.D.
Nashville Regenerative Orthopedics and Dr. Ethan Kellum are pleased to announce the joining of Dr. William Newton to their staff. The addition of Dr. Newton, a Board Certified physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation as well as Pain Medicine, will enable the practice to expand their regenerative medicine treatments to include spine procedures.
Having practiced in the Middle Tennessee area for over 8 years, Dr. Newton has become a regional leader in interventional spine treatments. “We have limited options within our current healthcare model to address spine pain,” Newton states. “I have witnessed firsthand the impact opioids have made on patients and the community.”
Dr. Newton has always practiced with a very conservative opioid philosophy and hopes
that access to non-surgical, no-opioid alternatives to spine pain will aid in changing the current practice models.
A native of New York, Dr. Newton completed his Masters Degree in sports medicine from Illinois State University and acquired his Medical Degree from Midwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Newton was awarded a Health Professional Scholarship from the US Army for his medical school training, after which he completed residency in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Newton completed 7 years of service in the Army Medical Corps and served as the Assistant Chief of Physical Medicine and Pain Management at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA. He was honorably discharged in 2009 with the rank of Major. While serving, Dr. Newton was awarded the Army Commendation and Meritorious Service Medals.
Dr. Newton trained at the world-renown Centeno-Schultz Regenexx clinic to bring the art of regenerative spine intervention to the region. He hopes that providing these cutting-edge procedures will provide an alternative to surgery and medications, while significantly improving function and quality of life.
Dr. Newton resides in Christiana, TN with his wife and two daughters. Much of his free time is spent on their farm or watching and supporting his daughters in their sport of equestrian competition.
Dr. Kellum is wonderful. He has a great bedside manner and really cares about his patients. He takes time with his patients to understand what is going on with the patient and for the patient to understand what is going on. He will answer whatever questions you have. I never felt rushed with any of my appointments, he took the time to listen.
The work and your commitment to excellence is astounding, the services you and your staff provided during my time of surgery was nothing less than exceptional. The healing process has gone very well. During the surgery I felt at peace during the procedure and the scarring is very minimal. You and your staff addressed any needs or concerns that I had prior to the surgery and post surgery. Your level of professionalism exceeded all of experiences that I have had with other physicians. I pray for your continued success where you are practicing medicine.
You exemplified everything that we expected from you and more. Not only did you make us feel comfortable as your clients, but you made us feel comfortable as friends. There are not enough words in the English vocabulary to say “Thank You” for everything that you did for us.

Dr. Kellum is a very knowledgeable & compassionate physician. He takes his time to listen thoroughly to your problem without treating you as if you were just another number. The first appointment I had with Dr. Kellum he made me feel like I had been his patient for years. Dr. Kellum treated my knee with everything possible before even discussing surgery to replace my knee. He is one of the only doctors that makes you feel so comfortable. Dr. Kellum gave me his cell phone number on my second visit and told me to call him anytime. How many other doctors would do that?
Dr. Kellum is very caring and shows compassion for his patients.
